Why did I choose Wesco?

Sales Associate @ Wesco 54
I started working for Wesco at age 18. Wesco was my 3rd job. Before Wesco I worked at and ice cream shop and a restaurant. At the time I was working 2 jobs! Eventually I realized Wesco was more for me and quit my restaurant job. I loved how much we got into the community and just everyone I was working with! I worked with some amazing people including my mom and sister. I was so eager to get some of my training done that I completed my Sales Associate Level 1 Training and Basic Food Safety Training!
Operations Associate @ Wesco 54
This year I realized that Wesco was where I really wanted to be. All the community events and helping run the store just made things real. This year I completed my Sales Associate level 2 and 3. On top of finishing those levels I also became JPR certified! To keep growing with the company I applied for Operations Assistant and got the position! I felt so comfortable running the store on my own and helping grow others!
Operations Associate @ Wesco 54
To keep growing I completed Hospitality Class! I also wanted to help get my name out into the company more so I started helping out at other locations to grow myself and help grow other locations!

This is the year I wanted to get out of my comfort zone! I realized that my next step was to be Assistant Manager! So I applied for Store 40 and I didn’t get it but I was okay with that. I got interview experience and got some good feed back on what needed to be worked on for me to get into this position. So I worked on what I could and applied for Store 30. Which was a comfortable interview I made it to the last 2 people and was so happy! I ended up getting a phone call from Shannon the manager at Store 30 letting me know I didn’t get the position. At this point I was wondering "what was wrong with me." I let it all go and continued to work as hard as I could to prove myself.
Operations Associate @ Wesco 54
I knew that I had to keep working on myself and that’s exactly what I did. I was able to learn new things from different managers and what they did to better themself.
Food Service Assistant Manager @ Wesco 07
I completed Food Service level 1 and 2 Training and I passed my Serve Safe exam.
I knew I had made some changes in myself and applied for Assistant Manager at the new store #8! It was an exciting moment because I knew that I had a great relationship with the manager Ashley Whitten and I knew she would tell me everything I did well on and if there was something that also needed working on. I unfortunately didn’t get that position but I was offered Food Service Operations Associate and I accepted this position!
I was so happy to have this opportunity to grow with a new team! At the time of opening the new location we still hadn’t found a Food Service Assistant Manager. So I was running the show! I was able to work at several different food service stores and learn how each store did so many things different. Having all this new experience was amazing it got to help me figure out what works best and what I could do to help make sure our deli ran smooth and neat! I was able to get our kitchen set up and make sure we had all the important information we needed to run a great deli! I loved building up a new store and deli! It was an amazing experience and I loved every second of it!
Being Operations Associate in Food Service for only 4 short months I could tell that having a new start and meeting and working with new people helped grow me even more than I thought! In just the few short months of working with my Ravenna people I grew so many amazing friendships!
I took a leap in faith and applied for Assistant Manger at Store 7. I was the only applicant that applied! I was very shocked when I was told that but it wasn’t going to stop me from doing my best! My amazing Manager and Food service Manager helped me get ready for all my interviews! They gave me amazing feed back and I took that into each interview I had! When I was at work in Ravenna Store 7 Manager called the store and asked to talk to me. This was the most nerve racking moment in Wesco career. I thought to myself “why would she call me at work what if I don’t get it.” My heart was racing. I answered the phone and we talked a little bit and Andria told me she felt like I would be the perfect fit and offered me the Food Service Assistant Manager position and I accepted the position!
It was such a bittersweet moment! I was so excited to grow myself and other even more but I knew I would miss my Ravenna family! I am now in Grand Haven and I love it! I can’t wait to keep growing!
What would I want someone just starting out to know?
I would tell myself:
