About Me

Why did I choose Wesco?

I chose Wesco because my sister, April, was a manager and she loved her job. At the time I started I had 2 other jobs and worked all 3 for many months but ultimately stayed with Wesco.

What were your first impressions of Wesco?

I had 3 jobs at the same time and Wesco was the job I never dreaded coming to! I ALWAYS had fun! Some of my best memories are from my first year. I worked in the ‘To- Go” and I enjoyed getting to know a lot of the corporate people- I think it really made me come out of my shell.

One time I remember a woman was panicking because her card wouldn’t work and she really needed fuel. Jerry was walking over and had seen she was upset so he swiped his card at the pump and said “Wesco is paying for your fuel today!” That was when I truly knew I was at the right company.

Year 1

To Go Deli Associate @ Wesco 2

I was 17 when I interviewed at Store 02. It went terrible. Mike, the Assistant Manager at the time told me I was lucky I was a minor because if I was a Sales Associate I would have never made it in! To this day, I feel more of a soft spot for young kids coming to interviews. I started as a To Go Deli Associate and when the To Go Deli was removed I became a Sales Associate until I turned 18.

Year 2

Sales Associate @ Wesco 2

I completed my Level 1 Associate Training. I had to make a decision to stay at Store 02 with April (who was my sister) or move to another store to see what I was capable of. It was a hard decision because I was comfortable there and I had fun, but if I was going to be serious about my job, I needed to make a change. Becky from Store 37 took me in with open arms!

Year 3

Bakery Associate @ Wesco 37

I completed Level 1 Bakery Associate. I started at Store 37 as a Sales Associates but when the bakery needed help, I offered to be trained and move to 3rd shift. I ended up being not too terrible at the bakery! I was only at Store 37 for less then a year before Store 13 was looking for a Head Baker. I applied and got it!

Year 5

Head Baker @ Wesco 13

I completed Sales Asociate Level 2 & Level 3, Food Service Level 1, and Bakery Asociate Level 2. I was a Head Baker at Store 13 for a little under 2 years.

Year 6

Part-Time Sales Associate @ Wesco 13

I completed Sales Associate Level 4, Food Service Associate Level 2 & Level 3. I started out this year as Head Baker at Store 13. This is when I pushed myself too hard. I was working 3rd shift full time, working another job full time, and going to College full time. I overworked myself and it was showing in my work. I decided to step down into a Sales Associate position and go to 1st shift and cut down to part-time at my other job and school.

Year 7

Assistant Manager @ Wesco 13

This is when I became an Operations Assistant at Store 13 and was loving going to work. I applied for Store 13’s Assistant Manager position and got it! I was so happy that I was able to recognize when I needed to take a step back, regroup, and work myself back up. I proved I could do it and what I was capable of!

Year 8

Assistant Manager @ Wesco 13

I attended the 7 Habits Class. This was the year when we got Retalix. We were the beta store and it was great having all the other managers come in and meeting them. This was also the time Tillie was at the office for 3 months doing Retalix stuff and I got to run the store pretty much on my own.

Year 9

Assistant Manager @ Wesco 13

I completed Leadership Academy. The best thing I learned from leadership and Wanda was recognition and compassion. Wanda used to have me put 20 pennies in my pocket and give compliments or pick up on social cues to move them to my other pocket. It worked great because now I am the recognition queen!

Year 10

Manager @ Wesco 37

This is the year I applied for Store 37’s Location Manager. I took my first JP&R Class, then I got to start participating in them! I remember the store needed help in the bakery and I was dead tired, but I felt if I went and helped out I would have a better chance of getting the Location Manager position. Guess what.. I got it!

Year 11

Manager @ Wesco 37

My first year as a Location Manager is one for the books. I learned a lot in the first year.

#1 you can't do everything

#2 you can't do everything

I still have a hard time letting go, but it’s a fraction of what it used to be! I remember this was one of the best Packzi years I ever had. This was also the year I was invited to be on the Leadership & Developement Team. I was absolutely shocked and so grateful!

Year 12

Manager @ Wesco 37

Attended the Hospitality Class. Testing Shift Leaders in full swing. (what a process!) Really dug down into what training means in our company.

Year 13

Manager @ Wesco 13

We got 3rd in QPPAS!! Was #21 in 2017. I CRIED. All that hard work we did paid off!

Year 14

Manager @ Wesco 37

We got 5th in QPPAS!! AGAIN?! We were doing so well at Store 37 and the store literally ran itself.

Year 15

Manager @ Wesco 26

I applied for the Location Manager at Store 26. I needed a new challenge and here I am today!

Looking Back

What would I want someone just starting out to know?

It’s okay to ask for help! Asking for help doesn’t mean you're weak.

There will be bad times and lots of things feel like they’re going wrong, but being able to push through it and always think positive will bring you back up!

Giving tough feedback is hard, but in the end it can be the most rewarding.

People are the heart of the company, be aware of feelings, and you can never give too much praise.

If you get comfortable, you stop growing. Put yourself out there!
